Lawrence Hall Fowler (1876-1971)

Friends and Acquaintances of J.G. Averell

American architect who toured Italy in 1903 with J.G. Averell.  Together they made measured drawings of Alberti's Tempio Malatestiana in Rimini. J.G. gifted Fowler with a 1565 edition of Alberti’s L’Architettura (a 2nd copy of the same edition is in the collection of the Memorial Art Gallery's Library), which "represents the beginning of [Fowler's] carefully collected and ultimately world-renowned library of early architectural treatises."
