A Little Stranger
Elizabeth Sibley announces that a little stranger, Maggie Sibley's daughter Urling, has appeared in Hiram Watson Sibley's household. The baby's name has not yet been chosen, and throughout these letters, she remains unnamed. Elizabeth hopes for no further [bad] news: “Everything goes in triplets, so with your disaster, the birth of the baby at the other house and Marie 's trouble we have the three, I hope nothing more of the kind will occur.”
Elizabeth Sibley also notes that her piano, which was brought from her home in North Adams, Massachusetts via the Erie Canal before her marriage, has been tuned so it can be used in a series of benefit performances supporting the Rochester Historical Society, to be held in the Lyceum Theater.
