My Kodak was Busy
In a letter dated 5/8/1891, Emily Sibley Watson writes her mother, describing a day trip to Toledo ("My Kodak was busy all day long, as you can imagine."), and then extolling the sights of Córdoba. She was most impressed by the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, originally the Great Mosque of Córdoba:
"The most wonderful thing here is the old Moorish Mosque, one of the most beautiful and impressive buildings I ever saw. I cannot describe it, but just imagine one thousand columns with arches that interlace until it looks like a great forest of stone as far as you can see!"
