Passports
On April 13, 1891 James Sibley Watson applied for a passport for himself and his wife. Her brother, Hiram Watson Sibley, served as a witness, and applied for a passport for himself and his family the same day, with James Sibley Watson serving as witness. Interestingly, Emily's birth year is given as 1856 instead of 1855 on the application.
Emily's mother made arrangements to close up their house, sending the silver to the Trust Co. and the jewelry to the Bank of Monroe. Emily's son, James G. Averell, stayed with his grandmother until they traveled to New York to meet with Emily's brother's family, for a simultaneous European tour.
