A Letter from Hicks Point

This letter was written from Hicks Point, on the shores of Canandaigua Lake, where Rev. James Hattrick Lee had property. Rev. Lee ran Rochester's Fort Hill School for a brief period of time before taking up a position at the Milton Academy in Massachusetts.  J.G. Averell attended Fort Hill School, and the letter refers to Rev. Lee preparing J.G. for his studies at St. Paul's School in Concord, NH.

The letter also refers to a false report of the death of J.G.'s uncle, Hiram Watson Sibley, in a yachting accident on Georgian Bay.
