Yachting
The Watson family started yachting in 1894, purchasing 3 steam yachts over the course of 6 years: the Algonquin (1894-1896) the Lasca (1896-1900) and the Genesee (1900-at least 1916). Emily’s brother Hiram Watson Sibley also owned several yachts. These were generally large pleasure boats for cruising, with captain and crew to meet the family in Europe or the Caribbean for extended jaunts.
