Racing the Veritas
In April 1897, the D&C announced that J.G. was having a “racing cutter” designed, and planned to race it with the Rochester Yacht Club. The 22’ knockabout, named the Veritas after Harvard’s motto, had its first race with the Rochester Yacht Club on 8/14/1897; however, J.G. was not present for the race and Samuel Hamilton acted as his skipper. Various friends served as crew. J.G. raced the Veritas at least through 1899.
