Tennis Aces

6/16/1895 letter

In his final letter from St. Paul's School, J.G. reports that he made it into the tennis semi-finals. He asks his mother if he can invite two classmates, William Mansfield Scudder and Leonard Everett Ware, to visit Rochester during the summer. Scudder and Ware competed at the Rochester Tennis Club in July 1895.  The pair later became doubles champions at Harvard.  J.G. played doubles in the same tournament.
