Letter from James Sibley Watson to Emily Sibley Watson, October 20, 1890<br />

In this letter, James Sibley Watson acknowledges receipt of two letters from Emily, and makes the first mention of the house that Emily has acquired: "I am quite interested in the house & the Chinese cook. You must be sure to tell me all about it & if you succeed in learning Chinese."

In another puzzling reference to the divorce, Jimmie writes: "I still can not help hoping that C. will yet succeed. I would strongly advise that he risk an interview before coming out."
