1895: A visit to Milton
In this letter, J.G. describes visiting the family of his former teacher, the Rev. James Hattrick Lee, and his family, at the Milton Academy. He notes that "Mrs. Lee asked what I was taking at Harvard, and Mr. Lee kept a carefull silence when I did not say Latin or Greek." He mentions that Billy, the Lee's son, is working for a competition medal given in Chicago for the best design for a public liberary."
J.G. looks forward to a concert by the operatic soprano Nellie Melba, and upcoming performances by the German Opera.
