1897: J.G. and the Rochester Yacht Club

The Democrat and Chronicle noted on April 14, 1897, that "the Rochester Yacht Club is soon to number James G. Averell among its members. Mr. Averell is having a racing cutter constructed and it is understood that it is his intention to enter it into the club races this season." J.G. would name his knockabout the "Veritas," after Harvard's motto.
